Members of the Emergency Response Teams across the various mines in BC not only provide support for our local mines but often provide often-unrecognized services in extreme circumstances participating on community search and rescue teams, fire departments, and first responders.

The Mines Industrial Safety Association (EKMISA) and the East Kootenay Zones Surface Mine Rescue and First Aid Competition brings together mine rescue teams from across the East Kootenays to test their emergency response and rescue abilities.
